Both Jennifer and I feel very stongly about the environment and the impacts our industry
has on it. We have made a concious choice to search for eco-friendly products and sell
them wherever possible.

Our main focus is in the upholstery industry. Many do not know that foam, used in seat
cushions and padding, is petroleum-based. This has a tremendous impact on our planet
and its eco-systems. The production ramifications are tremendous and unknown to those
who are unframiliar with the upholstery industry. Soy is a renewable solution that gives
you the same performance, durability and comfort, without the impact. And, in most
cases, is not more expensive. In fact, some of our eco pieces are less expensive than their
petroleum-based equivilent.

It has been our struggle to find such products and, thankfully, Distinctive Designs from
Toronto has embraced the soy movement and gone to completely eco-friendly cushions
and reclaimed fiber fill. You can find products from sofas to chairs and sectionals to
sofabeds. The modular option allows you to create almost limitless designs.

Here's some facts about eco-friendly cushions:

1. Soy foam is made from soy beans, which is a renewable resource

2. Soy-based products reduce environmental impacts by 75% when compareds with
petroleum-based foam

3. For every 1 million pounds of soybean polyols that replace petroleum-based polyols
in foam, 2,200 barrels of crude oil are saved

4. Manufacturing soy foam requires 61% less non-renewable energy and 36% less
emissions

5. Soy-based foam has the same rate of retention as petroleum-based foam

6. Regenerated fiber fill is manufactured from recycled polyester, polyvinylchloride,
and other plastic waste materials such as milk jugs, and soft drink bottles

7. Using recycled plastic created effective resource conservation and reduces landfill
